RMT strengthens your breathing muscles, engaging more of your lung tissue allowing more depth and air with each breath.

Resilient muscles slow down and deepen your breathing to fight chest pain and shallow breathing naturally.

Healthy and active breathing muscles are flexible. This helps relax and open up the airways to reduce inflammation and mucus.
Researchers reviewed 11 studies with 270 participants to evaluate how breath training helped asthmatics. The meta-study concluded that 6 weeks with a moderate to high training load was enough to improve stamina during exercise. Additionally, RMT could help improve the effects of rescue medication with no adverse effects.

When two groups of patients with stable asthma conversely did deep breathing exercises and RMT for 3 months researchers showed that RMT gave patients up to 50% extra breathing muscle power.
They concluded that “IMT may act as an alternative to conventional, deep breathing exercises for middle-aged and elderly asthma patients.”

A study with asthmatic children, aged 4 to 16, showed reduced inflammation and opening of the airways, which helped control their asthma and reduced attacks during physical activity.
The researchers recommended that RMT “must be used” for asthmatic children and recommended more studies on the positive effects of RMT in the physical development phase of life.
